The Problem

Small-scale farmers face payment delays, broker exploitation, and high transactional friction when buying goods or renting heavy equipment. Existing escrow platforms require expensive middlemen, slowing cash flow and increasing security risks for rural transactions.

What I Built

I developed Agriscrow, a decentralized Web3 marketplace. The application connects farmers, buyers, and rental agencies directly. Using Tact, I wrote smart contracts on the TON blockchain that automatically lock rental fees, release funds on delivery confirmation, and process disputes through multi-sig structures.

The decentralized escrow and settlement architecture:

[Smart Contract Lock] → Funds escrowed on TON blockchain
[Farmer Ships Goods] → Equipment dispatched to renter
[Delivery Confirmed] → Buyer triggers payout flag
[Fund Release] → Escrow releases TON payment to farmer wallet

Technical Decisions

I selected the TON Blockchain because of its low transaction fees and fast block times, which are crucial for micro-transactions in agriculture. Contracts were written in Tact to ensure clean actor-model variable mutations and minimize security vulnerabilities.

Results and Impact

Developed for the Premiere Hackathon, the project:

  • Awarded 🏆 Runner Up, Agricultural Innovation at SJEC Premiere Hackathon 2023.
  • Successfully demonstrated wallet integration and real-time transaction processing.
